The clinic will be open Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Thereafter, the clinics will be open 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Following current public health guidelines, vaccinations are available only to people age 75 and older.

“Since the pandemic began, the Town of Vernon has worked diligently to provide solutions that increase access and break down barriers to services such as testing,” Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. “Having a vaccination clinic at Rockville General Hospital is a crucial step in our ongoing response and furthers the goal of making the vaccine accessible to people from Vernon and nearby communities.”

ECHN has been running a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Manchester Memorial Hospital for ECHN employees, community healthcare workers and first responders and is delighted to be able to expand the service to community members at Rockville General Hospital, ECHN CEO Deborah Weymouth said.

“ECHN is proud to work with the Town of Vernon to provide protection to the region with a vaccination clinic at Rockville General Hospital,” Weymouth said. “When municipalities come together to create solutions with local healthcare operators, the beneficiaries are the people we collectively serve. We are enthusiastic about our partnership and the leadership provided by Mayor Champagne and other town staff to ensure our dedication to a single-minded mission of serving the community.”

The clinic will be held inside the hospital on the ground level off of the main entrance parking lot. People will sign in, fill out paperwork, and advance to a vaccination station. People must remain in a holding area for 15 minutes to be observed by medical professionals for any reaction to the vaccine. People should bring photo ID and their insurance card to their appointment. The second dose vaccination appointment will be scheduled at the vaccine clinic.

The Town of Vernon is working with ECHN and providing some staff for the clinic as a cooperative effort utilizing shared resources.

“Having the vaccine conveniently available to Vernon residents is a significant step forward in our comprehensive and strategic response to the pandemic, which has also included easy access to regular COVID-19 testing,” said Vernon Town Administrator and Emergency and Risk Management Director Michael Purcaro. “The fight against COVID-19 is not over and we must remain vigilant by following the guidelines.”
