Interventional Radiology

All outpatient exams must be scheduled through Centralized Scheduling 860.872.5150. All physician orders must be faxed to 860.474.1700 upon booking, as well as a recent H&P. Informed consent is required for all procedures. Please make sure the patient is able to sign consent or accompanied by a representative who is able to.


Interventional Radiology Procedures

The following procedures require patients to arrive at Manchester Memorial Hospital’s Ambulatory Services Center 90 minutes prior to their procedure start time. Patients are called 1-2 days in advance with instructions for NPO, medications and arrival time.

Procedure times listed are approximate and the modality the procedure is performed is physician preference.

  • Angiogram with Intervention (treatment of Peripheral Artery Disease): 60-90 minutes

  • Aortic Aneurysm Repair (AAA): 120-150 minutes

  • Biopsy (CT, U/S, Angio): 60 minutes

  • Central Venous Catheter Placement (Hickman Catheter): 30 minutes

  • Dialysis
    • Tunneled Dialysis Catheters: 30 minutes
    • AVDS studies, declots, plasties and stent placement: 60-90 minutes

  • Drainage Tube Placement (Angio, CT, U/S)
    • Abscess: 30 minutes
    • Biliary: 90 minutes
    • Chest tube for drainage or pneumothorax: 30 minutes
    • Cholecystostomy: 30-60 minutes
    • Gastrostomy, Gastrojejunostomy: 60 minutes
    • Nephrostomy: 60 minutes
    • Pluerex: 60 minutes

  • Embolization: 60-90 minutes

  • Fluoroscopy: 15 - 20 minutes

  • Kyphoplasty and Vertebroplasty: 60-90 minutes

  • Lumbar Puncture
    • Diagnostic: 30 minutes
    • Therapeutic: 30 minutes
    • Chemotherapy: 30 minutes

  • Myelogram - Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar: 30 minutes

  • Paracentisis (U/S): 60 minutes

  • Port Placements and Removals: 30-60 minutes

  • Pseudoaneurysm treatment (U/S): 30-60 minutes

  • RF and Cryo Ablation (CT): 60-90 minutes

  • TIPS and TIPS revisions: 60-90 minutes

  • Thoracentesis (U/S): 30-60 minutes

  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization: 60-90 minutes

  • Vena Cava Filter Insertions and Removals: 60-90 minutes

  • Venograms: 60 minutes

 

The following procedures come in through Radiology Reception 10 minutes prior to scheduled procedure time:

  • Drainage Tube Checks, Changes and Removals (Angio, CT): 30-60 minutes
    • Abscess

  • Port Checks: 30 minutes

  • Steroid Injections (Angio, CT): 30 minutes
