One out of three American adults has pre-diabetes, and most of them do not know it. Having pre-diabetes means your blood sugar level is higher than normal, increasing your risk of getting Type 2 diabetes. Without weight loss or moderate physical activity, many people with pre-diabetes can develop Type 2 diabetes within 5 years. Type 2 diabetes is a serious condition that can lead to health issues such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure or loss of toes, feet or legs.
The lifestyle changes prescribed in the PreventT2 Program can help prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes. Participants in the full year program receive:
- A trained lifestyle coach to guide and encourage every step of the way
- Support from other participants with the same goals and challenges
- The necessary skills to lose weight, be more physically active and better able to manage stress more successfully
