Nephrology

Nephrology, a subspeciality of internal medicine, focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease. Because the kidney performs critical functions – removing waste and excess fluid from the blood, maintaining the body’s electrolyte balance, releasing hormones with functions such as managing blood pressure and more – Nephrologists are hyper-focused and experts in primary kidney disorders and management of kidney dysfunction.

Collaborative Care
ECHN’s Nephrologists work very collaboratively with our Internal Medicine physicians to evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. Our team of Nephrologists can evaluate and manage:

• Acute and chronic kidney disease
• Blood or protein in the urine
• Interstitial nephritis
• Kidney cancer screening
• Kidney infections
• Kidney stones (diagnosis and prevention)
• Nephrotic syndrome
• Polycystic kidney disease
• Renal artery stenosis
• Renal replacement therapies (including dialysis and transplant)
• Resistant hypertension
