Our History

Since 1997, Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) and Waterbury Hospital had been supporting their own individual CME accreditations in good standing. In 2016, both organizations were acquired by healthcare services company, Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc.

Approaching reaccreditation in 2017, ECHN and Waterbury agreed that combining resources and streamlining CME procedures between the two hospitals will result in more consistent processes, improved efficiencies, and enhanced educational experiences across the local enterprise. The result was a successful provisional accreditation as Prospect Medical Holdings, CT through the Connecticut State Medical Society. In 2020, with the dissolution of CT State Medical Society’s CME providership program, Prospect Medical Holdings, CT transitioned to initial accreditation under the ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education). In March of 2022, the CME program completed a comprehensive reaccreditation survey with the ACCME and received full accreditation status, valid until 2026.

Our Mission
