  2. Customize and enjoy nutrient-dense food and beverage choices to reflect personal preferences, cultural traditions, and budgetary considerations.
  3. Focus on meeting food group needs with nutrient-dense foods and beverages, and stay within calorie limits.
  4. Limit foods and beverages higher in added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium, and limit alcoholic beverages.

Achieving a healthier diet is a significant part of treating and preventing diseases.

Chronic diseases can develop for many reasons including, but not limited to, genetics, behavioral, socioeconomic and environmental factors – another reason why proper nutirion is not a one-size-fits-all modality.

Chronic diseases such as Heart Disease, Cancer and Diabetes can be prevented by making healthy lifestyle choices.   • Reducing sugar consumption in sodas, juices, sugar sweetened coffees and teas, and desserts.
  • Choosing packaged and processed foods with lower sodium
