The Rehabilitation Services Department at Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) is pleased to announce that Sarah Lang-Rodean, BS, CSCS, has recently joined its Strength and Conditioning Program as a strength coach. She is working with both athletes and non-athletes at Manchester Memorial Hospital, as well as at several of ECHN’s outpatient therapy locations. She is also working at the Connecticut Baseball Academy in East Hartford as a member of the ECHN Strength and Conditioning Program Team, training a variety of local athletes and sports teams.
Her experience includes the development and implementation of strength, speed, agility, conditioning, and flexibility programs for a variety of sports. Lang-Rodean also designed exercise programs for all ages to enhance her clients’ cardiovascular fitness, total body strength, and abdominal and core strength. She developed personalized exercise programs for individuals and groups, performed fitness and body assessments, and taught proper exercise techniques to prevent injury.
Lang-Rodean successfully completed a rigorous internship in the University of Connecticut’s Strength and Conditioning Program; the No. 1-rated program of its kind in the nation. While at Springfield College, she was a scholar-athlete, who was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-American, New England Men’s and Women’s Conference (NEWMAC) Player of The Year, AVCA All-New England Region First Team, and New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) to the All-New England Second Team, all in 2011.
Lang-Rodean earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science with a specialization in sports performance from Springfield College. She is also certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and she is also certified in AED, CPR (adult, child, infant) and standard first aid. Rebecca Waite, PT, DPT, was recently appointed Lead Inpatient Physical Therapist at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Waite, a graduate of the University of Rhode Island’s Physical Therapy Program, has been working as an acute care therapist since she started with ECHN in 2010. Besides earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, she also holds a Bachelor of Science in exercise and sport science from Texas State University.
Waite is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), participating in the Connecticut Chapter, and the Acute Care section of the APTA. She can be reached at 860.647.6485.
