Two ECHN Affiliates Awarded American College Of Radiology Accreditation
The Ultrasound Imaging Services at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital have both been awarded a three-year term accreditation as a result of a recent voluntary survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This accreditation includes the following specialty areas: obstetric, gynecologic, general diagnostic, and vascular ultrasound. Both hospitals have maintained ACR accreditation for more than 10 years.
The ACR awards accreditation to medical imaging practices for the achievement of high practice standards after a voluntary inspection. Evaluations are conducted by radiologists who are members of the ACR with special expertise in ultrasound. They assess the quality of the work being performed, as well as the qualifications of the personnel. Accreditation is awarded to those practices that demonstrate high standards in imaging services.
The American College of Radiology is a national organization serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists, with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health services. The ACR Committee on Ultrasound Accreditation evaluates and accredits ultrasound practices in hospitals and in private offices across the United States.
Accreditation by the ACR provides the public, referring physicians, other healthcare providers, and insurance companies with evidence that the accredited facility offers comprehensive healthcare services.
