VERNON, CONNECTICUT - ECHN's Vernon Family Resource Center is offering a new program designed to encourage parents' participation in their children's reading development. The eight-week program is free and will take place at Dart Hill Park in Vernon on Thursdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. The sessions will emphasize the importance of reading to children and provide parents with a variety of activities that make reading with their children both enjoyable and positive. At each meeting, families receive a free, carefully-selected children's book to add to their home library. Parents will be given the opportunity to share experiences with other parents and celebrate the joy of reading with their children. Child care and snacks will be provided.
Registration is required. For more information about the program or to register, please contact Tess Mackenzie at 860.875.5771.
