Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is an integral part of the Eastern Connecticut Family Medicine Residency Program at Manchester Memorial Hospital.  While the resident will obtain the highest quality of conventional and osteopathic medicine, the resident will also be presented with another important concept that is a lost art: creating balance in the whole person - emotional, spiritual and physical.  The focus of our clinic setting is to promote wellness and prevent illness.  Our practitioners strive to respond to patients in a manner that respects their individual perspectives and honors and empowers them.

Our practitioners view illness as a manifestation of imbalance in the body.  The body has an innate ability to heal.  A patient's symptoms can reveal the underlying causes of disease.  Our goal as practitioners is to understand the causes of imbalance and nurture the body back to its natural state of balanced health.

With a common goal of healing and nurturing the whole person, we bring together conventional and alternatively trained practitioners to create healing synergy between health professionals and patients.

It is the intention of every practitioner to sustain positive feelings towards patients and other practitioners, allowing for a positive energetic environment.
