Each and every donation helps improve the quality of life for your family, neighbors and friends.

The mission of the ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation is to promote and engage philanthropic support for ECHN and its affiliates so they may continue their mission and pursue their vision.

Your donations allow us to go beyond the provisions of our annual budget and purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, renovate patient care areas, and expand programs and services. Financial contributions ensure the availability of excellent health care for you, your family, and your neighbors and friends when it is needed most. We hope you will find many reasons to direct your support to the programs and facilities of ECHN.

Extra Effort Leaves Lasting Memory

Cheryl Thomas Hodina recently wrote a letter to ECHN President & CEO Peter Karl, expressing her great pleasure and emotion at sharing her story with him. In April 2012, Cheryl’s father, Peter Thomas, was seen in the emergency department at Manchester Memorial Hospital (MMH). While there, they received news from his urologist that a previous week’s biopsy showed that Cheryl’s dad had lymphoma. Between April and October 2012, he spent 83 days (that included many visits) receiving care at the DeQuattro Cancer Center and MMH. Cheryl states that over the weeks of tests and treatments, the staff at both facilities made them feel like family. From Phil greeting them each time at the Cancer Center, to the chemotherapy nurses and nurse navigators, the oncologists who treated him, the nursing and imaging staff at MMH, and even Peter Karl himself stopping to talk to him when he saw him in the hallway, her father was treated with professionalism and care that made them both feel very comfortable and relaxed throughout their ordeal. Cheryl’s final words in the letter sum up her feelings, “Thank you, Peter, for making my dad’s unfortunate situation a wonderful experience. I know ECHN made his last months the best they could be. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the extra effort.”
